Consumer Testing Flow
Summary
Open Elements operates with two distinct consumer flows, both of which are directly tied to the Know Your Customer (KYC) process:
- New Consumers: Individuals who have not previously made a purchase using Open Elements.
- Returning Users: Individuals who have made at least one prior purchase using Open Elements.
Consumers making purchases through Open Elements are identified by their email address or mobile phone number, categorizing them as either new or returning. Upon checkout, new consumers are automatically enrolled in the Open Elements system, thus transitioning into returning consumers.
The following outlines the processes for both new and existing consumers.
New Consumer
When a new consumer proceeds to checkout with Open Elements, their status is validated at two stages: upon entering their email address and again upon entering their mobile number. If the consumer is not recognized at both stages, they are classified as a new consumer.
The Flow
For new consumers, KYC verification is conducted at the conclusion of the checkout process, specifically when the consumer clicks on the payment button.

Returning Consumer
When a returning consumer proceeds to checkout with Open Elements, their status is validated at two stages: upon entering their email address and again upon entering their mobile number. If the consumer is recognized at either stage, they are categorized as a returning consumer.
The Flow
For returning consumers, KYC verification is performed as soon as Open Elements identifies the consumer through their phone number or email address, typically at the beginning of the checkout process.
